Jasamin Fichte

Jasamin Fichte, the founding managing partner at Fichte & Co, is an international commercial lawyer. She is a member of the German Bar and the Law Society of England and Wales. Jasamin maintains an invaluable experience of over 15 years in the highly specialized practice areas of Maritime and International Trade Law. Having had worked as a solicitor in the leading financial centres of London and Hamburg in premier international law firms, Jasamin relocated to Dubai in 2002 to join a leading Lloyd's of London insurance broking firm wherein she was responsible for overseeing and handling claims of all insurance related disputes. She has also established strong relationships not only within the maritime and trading community of the United Arab Emirates, but also in Iran, India, Kuwait, Iraq, and Sri Lanka.

The lacunae in the region for specialized maritime and trade law legal advisories inspired Jasamin to establish Fichte & Co in 2005, presently one of the leading maritime law firms in the Middle East. Fichte & Co was awarded “Best Maritime Law Firm of 2007 & 2010” by the Seatrade Middle East and Indian Subcontinent. Jasamin Fichte was listed among the top 20 lawyers in the G.C.C. by “The Brief” magazine (Middle East Law for the Business Professionals).

Jasamin has given several presentations and has participated in many academic seminars on various legal topics hosted by both governmental and industry luminaries such as BIMCO, DSAA, DPA, DIAC, etc. She has consistently published various articles on diverse subjects of marine, shipping and transportation law and is a frequent member of expert panels on topics such as ship finance and marine insurance.

Jasamin chairs the Legal Council of the German Emirates Club, a popular corporate networking platform amongst the expatriate German business community in the UAE. She is also one of the founders and organizers of the UAE Ship Industry Round Table, a remarkable network event for the top management and key persons within the UAE shipping industry. Furthermore, Jasamin was able to establish the United Arab Emirates' branch of WISTA (Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association) in 2010 and chairs the same as its first President.

In 2011 Jasamin was appointed as an arbitrator for the German Maritime Arbitration Association (GMAA).
